Warriors take golden season to the playoffs

OAKLAND, Calif. (KTVU) - The excitement is at a fever pitch as the Golden State Warriors head into the playoffs after playing their last season game Wednesday night.

More than 19,000 fans packed into the Oracle Arena where the Warriors beat the Nuggets 133-126. This is the third consecutive season the Warriors have made it into the playoffs. But this team is considered to be the most talented.

Fans say it just doesn't get any better than this, with the Golden State Warriors more golden than ever in a dream season

This has been a season of many new records including one for most home victories in franchise history.

"This is their best season ever. It's a history making event," said Charles Gragg, a Warriors fan from Pleasanton.

The team's steady and stellar performance throughout the season scored many new fans.

"For the first time, I'm the one saying get us some tickets, get us some tickets," said Delores Gragg who attended the game with her husband and daughter.

There were also plenty of die hard fans who say they plan to attend the playoff games.

"When I watch the Warriors play, to me it's just excitement," said 11-year-old Jordan Robinson of Hayward.

Meanwhile, Steph Curry, #30, whose star has reached new heights helped bring fan frenzy to an arguably all-time high.

"I just got Stephen Curry's autograph on the front side of my jersey. I'm really excited to be here. I used my own allowance and everything to come," said 12-year-old Satura Cyr from Santa Rosa.

Wednesday was fan appreciation night. There were free t-shirts draped on the seats for everyone. It was a thank you for being the best fans in the league.

"The crowd is amazing... electric every night. So much fun to come to work here at home every night and feel the energy and the joy," said Warriors head coach Steve Kerr.

The tone is set as the Warriors head into the playoffs. "We're going all the way. This is the year. We're setting records. This is their year," said Leander Robinson, a season ticket holder.

The Warriors will be playing the New Orleans Pelicans on Saturday, kicking off the playoffs.
