WATCH: Plane lands on Southern California freeway

VENTURA COUNTY, Calif. (KTVU) - A Southern California student pilot says it was a choice between landing on the freeway, or going down in a nearby dirt patch.

It turns the right decision was made - and it was caught on video.

A woman posted video on Twitter saying she was "terrified" to see the small plane landing just in front of her car Monday in Ventura County.

"A plane literally just landed on the freeway guys. I'm freaking out. A plane just landed on the freeway."

The single engine plane landed on the lanes of Highway 23 near Moorpark.

The student pilot says she gave the controls over to her instructor after the plane's engine began sputtering.

The engine had completely stopped when he made the emergency landing.

No one was hurt.
