Wife, son of man suspected of shooting at Antioch first responders found

The wife and 4-year-old son of a man suspected of killing a Bay Area man and wounding a firefighter and a paramedic in Antioch have been found safe Tuesday, authorities said.

Authorities had raised concerns about Kimberly Meeks, 31, of Discovery Bay and her son after Darryon Williams, 26, of Stockton was arrested on Saturday. The two were believed to be traveling in a sport utility vehicle.

The Contra Costa Sheriff’s Office said in a tweet that both were located Tuesday morning but didn’t release other details.

Williams was arrested in Richmond in the San Francisco Bay Area following a chase that began after a firefighter and a paramedic attending to an injured person were wounded in a drive-by shooting in Antioch, about 30 miles away.

The firefighter was shot in the foot and the paramedic a leg but both were expected to recover, authorities said.

After Williams’ arrest, officers did a welfare check at home in nearby Discovery Bay. Michael Iliff, 64, was found dead inside with apparent gunshot wounds, authorities said.

Williams was named a suspect in the death. He remained jailed Tuesday.

It’s unclear whether he has an attorney who could comment on his behalf.
