The woman was pronounced dead at the location of the collision. The child was hospitalized with injuries that were described as non-life threatening. The dog suffered minor injuries.

The car that hit them was a green or blue 4-door Honda, police said. The driver ran a red light and kept going after the collision, according to police.

Police found the car Monday, but are still searching for the driver.

"So I take this opportunity to urge that person, who knows very well what happened, to come to the police department and turn themselves in." said Steve Aponte, a spokesperson for the San Jose Police Department.

The driver will likely be charged with hit and run, and vehicular manslaughter, police said.
