OAKLAND, Calif. (KTVU) - Reports coming out of 49ers practice Friday indicated that Blaine Gabbert will start the 49ers pre-season opener against the Houston Texans on Sunday.
Colin Kaepernick is said to be dealing with "arm fatigue" which could force the 49ers to change their plans for their first exhibition game, which will be placed at Levi Stadium..
49ers head coach Chip Kelly had indicated that both Gabbert and Kaepernick would get equal time with the starters until the regular season starter had been determined. It's unclear what Kaepernick's availability for the game will be.
