House announces bipartisan task force to tackle AI regulation

A new effort is underway in Washington, D.C. to regulate artificial intelligence. The House has launched a bipartisan task force focused on creating the AI legislation necessary to keep everyone safe while also advancing the industry. KTVU's Alex Savidge speaks with Joseph Thacker, AI engineer and security researcher with cybersecurity company AppOmni about the massive responsibility of taking on the rapidly changing field and what the task force should focus on first.

SCOTUS weighs social media regulations, free speech limits

The U.S. Supreme Court heard arguments today about laws passed in Florida and Texas meant to prohibit social media platforms from removing objectionable content. Kaiser Permanente awards $9M grant to boost Oakland schools

Kaiser Permanente has announced a new partnership with Oakland Unified School District, awarding OUSD a $9 million grant to boost health services and academic support. The money will be spread out over the course of three years and is being given to help students and staff lead healthier lives. KTVU's Jana Katsuyama is joined in the studio by Oakland Schools Superintendent Kyla Johnson-Trammel and Yvette Radford with Kaiser Permanente for more details on how the money will be spent.

How to manage financial stress, as national credit card debt reaches all-time high

Financial debt is mounting for Americans across the country. According to the federal reserve, the total credit card debt alone is higher than it has ever been before, reaching a staggering $1.3 trillion. New data from Bankrate found 36% of American households have more credit card debt than emergency savings, leading to higher rates of anxiety and stress. KTVU's Frank Mallicoat is joined by Christina Roman, Consumer Education and Advocacy Manager at Experian to break down a couple of debt management strategies for different financial situations.
