Bolinas Post Office back in business after 948 days

The somewhat remote and tiny town of Bolinas, population of about twelve hundred, lost its post office almost three years ago. Many folks thought it was gone for good until some relentless people got folks involved in a way the Postal Service could not ignore.

- Beneficial rain today - Warming and drying trend starts Friday Overcast skies and scattered showers remain through the day with some slowing in the frontal passage. Light rain showers are ongoing across the Bay Area ahead of a cold front located about 200 miles west of San Francisco. This front is connected to a mature cut off low pressure system way up in the southern Gulf of Alaska. This separation is causing a very slow forward progression of the cold front. Bottom line...When all is said and done, we`re expecting up to 1" in the coastal mountains of the North Bay with up to .25 in the wettest locations of the Bay Area between now and NOON Thursday. Thunderstorm risk is slim. With the rain spread out over the day, this is mostly a beneficial event and will help put a slight damper on fire season. Thursday morning features showers clearing to afternoon dry skies. An offshore flow sets up on Friday through Sunday with gusty offshore winds and warmer temperatures Inland in the low 80s with low humidity.

Missing California sisters found alive after 36 years

In 1989, an unidentified woman was found murdered in the Arizona desert. Her two young daughters had vanished. Now decades later, the sisters - who had no idea they were even missing - have been found alive.
