Bay Area airports snared in national flight mess

The summer travel season is off to a rocky start with hundreds of flights cancelled Thursday. Problems began mounting with inclement weather but have mushroomed and appear to be affecting United Airlines more than other carriers. Travelers at SFO and other Bay Area airports are scrambling to salvage their plans.
