New details in lawsuit against Meta
Newly unsealed court documents are shedding light on what exactly Facebook and its parent company Meta knew about how kids were using its platform. The complaint is part of a lawsuit filed by the attorneys general of 33 states. According to reports by The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times, company documents show that Meta designed its products to exploit the shortcomings in youth psychology. They also show that the company knew Facebook and Instagram were popular with children under 13 who were not supposed to be using the platforms and were slow to respond when they were alerted to the issue. KTVU's Alex Savidge and Claudine Wong discuss the new details with Jim Steyer, CEO and Founder of Common Sense Media.
