Oakland mayor discusses ceasefire resolution and foot patrols
Oakland mayor Sheng Thao was asked about plans by a group of public school teachers to introduce lessons on Palestine, but would not express an opinion on it. Thao also did not say whether she condemned a resolution passed by the city council that called for a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. Thao expressed confidence that a new police chief would be in place by March and said that officer foot patrols have helped reduce crime in business corridors of the city.
