Oakland's "Souley Vegan" announces reopening, new location
Local vegan chef Tamearra Dyson is writing the next chapter in her remarkable culinary career after a significant setback. This week, she held a pop-up event in the kitchen at the Berkeley Bowl West Supermarket, serving up Vegan Po'Boys and Cajun Fries among some of her other signature dishes. The two-day pop-up is part of an effort to relaunch her beloved Oakland restaurant Souley Vegan, which was forced to close late last year after the business struggled to bring in customers during the pandemic. Souley Vegan was one of the Bay Area's first vegan soul food restaurants in 2009 and now Chef Dyson is planning to reopen the restaurant in a new location. KTVU's Alex Savidge is joined live in studio by Chef Dyson for more on her big comeback.
