Decorated Vietnam War vet receives posthumous pardon for drug offense
Gov. Gavin Newsom posthumously pardons Vietnam War veteran Richard "Butch" Penry of Petaluma. He had received the Medal of Honor for saving the lives on his fellow soldiers during an ambush. But after he returned home, he was convicted of sales and possession of drugs. His sister and brother said his drug use stemmed from his PTSD and physical pain. They say the governor's pardon rights an injustice and helps other veterans.
