Local seagull hitchhikes on garbage trucks
Rare, never before seen behavior in a San Francisco seagull. San Jose State researchers tracked one seagull's journey to and from her nest on the Farallon Islands. What they discovered sounded like something from a children's book. Her eight mile journey was not one of her flying to different locations, but rather she was hitchhiking a ride on a garbage truck. Scott Shaffer, professor of biological sciences there at San Jose State University joined us on The Noon to talk about the finding.
