CalFresh recipients in Aalmeda County stand to lose approximately $35 million in food assistance benefits next month due to the ongoing shutdown of the federal government. The Alameda County Board of Supervisors on Thursday approved $16.5 million in emergency food assistance through the food bank and its partner organizations. The funding was announced at a press conference led by elected officials including Alameda County Supervisor Nikki Fortunato Bas, Congresswoman Lateefah Simon and Oakland Mayor Barbara Lee, among others.
