California hate crimes up; blacks, Jews, gay men targets
The number of hate crimes in California increased about 11 percent last year, the second consecutive double-digit increase, but the overall number still was a third lower total than a decade ago, the state's attorney general reported Monday. Blacks, Jews and gay men were among the most frequent targets.
