California vows to fight President Trump over auto emissions standards
Claiming, without proof, that future cars will be cheaper and safer, the President says he intends to revoke California's ability, for more than 50 years, to set its own vehicle emissions standards. President Trump tweeted his intention to wipe out permission, granted by Congress in the Clean Air Act that has, for more than a half century, enabled California to determine how much pollution cars may emit.
