Former Napster CEO behind nonprofit that puts homeless to work
Former Napster CEO Eileen Richardson left the ?hub hub? of the Silicon Valley and started a nonprofit that puts the homeless to work. The Downtown Streets Team has been keeping San Jose clean for over a decade. It?s simple, take a pride in a day?s work and in return the DST staff will provide a path to housing, jobs, and provide a supportive community environment that builds self-esteem. The program has taken over 2,000 people off the streets and back to work. It has been so successful that 15 different cities around the Bay Area now have Downtown Streets Programs. Mayor London Breed was so impressed with its success she hopes to triple the programs in San Francisco over the next few years. Frank Mallicoat reports
