Officials warn of sneaker waves and rip currents for Bay Area coast

The National Weather Service has issued a Beach Hazards Statement for Pacific Coast beaches from Sonoma County to Monterey County through Saturday at 5 p.m. San Francisco firefighters are urging beachgoers to watch for dangerous sneaker waves, strong rip currents and large surf as inland temperatures rise and more people head to the coast.
