18th anniversary of unsolved hit-and-run murder

This weekend marks the 18th anniversary of the unsolved hit-and-run murder that killed Rick Devecchi.

A resident of San Lorenzon, he was outside of his family trucking business in Berkeley when a driver hit him.

Berkeley police say they believe that Devecchi was hit intentionally and they have never caught the driver of the vehicle.

Devecchi stayed alive for three days, while doctors hoped for swelling in his brain to reduce, but ultimately succumbed to his injuries.

He was an organ donor, and Rick's brother, Randy, a photographer at KTVU, says that there are six people who have benefited from Rick's organs.

Randy joined Mornings on 2 to talk about his brother and his death.

Randy says, "peace and closure is literally all that we're looking for".

A $50,000 reward has been offered in the case.
