Brother, sister shot in car en route to Oakland Swap Meet: police union
OAKLAND, Calif. - Less than 48 hours after a triple shooting in Oakland, a double shooting was reported early Sunday, police said.
The police union, through spokesman Sam Singer, said the victims are a brother and sister, who were shot as they were headed to sell merchandise at the Oakland Swap Meet near the Coliseum.
Singer sent a news release on behalf of the union stating they were sitting in a car with their father when someone came up to their car and critically wounded both of them in the 7600 block of Garfield Avenue before 5 a.m.
When police arrived, there were no victims present but evidence of a shooting.
Singer's news release said their father drove them to the hospital.
It is not typical for the police and the union to send out two separate news releases.
On Friday night, two people were killed, and a third injured in a triple shooting in Oakland.
Police are investigating both shootings and ask anyone with information to contact them at (510) 238-3426.
