2 suspects arrested in connection with deadly San Jose shooting
SAN JOSE (BCN) - Two men have been arrested in the fatal shooting last month of a 24-year-old man, a police spokesman said Thursday.
Jeese Gulley, 26, and Khalil Owens, 19, both of San Jose, were arrested on suspicion of murder earlier this month, according to police spokesman Officer Albert Morales.
They are suspected of shooting San Jose resident Marvin Jackson on June 27, Morales said.
Shortly before 2:30 a.m. that day, officers responded to a report of a male victim shot in the area of South Second and San Carlos Streets, the spokesman said.
Arriving officers found the victim, later identified as Jackson, suffering from at least one gunshot wound, Morales said.
Jackson was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later, according to Morales.
Investigators determined the men were involved in a verbal altercation before the shooting occurred, Morales said.
Gulley was arrested on July 14 and Owens was arrested on July 3 and both were booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail, according to the spokesman.
Gulley is being held without bail and Owens is being held on $2 million bail, according to jail records.
Both suspects have pleaded not guilty to one count of murder and are scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Aug. 11, Santa Clara County Deputy District Attorney Amir Alem said.
