2 wounded in I-880 shooting in Hayward
HAYWARD, Calif. (KTVU) - The CHP is investigating a shooting that happened along Interstate 880 in Hayward that left two people wounded.
Two people were hospitalized in stable condition after being shot while driving in a truck along the freeway in Hayward.
The shooting occurred just after 9 p.m. Sunday on the Winton Avenue exit from southbound 880.
All lanes of the freeway are back open Monday morning. The CHP does not believe this was a random attack.
Investigators say the shooter pulled alongside a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck and opened fire on the three people inside.
After the gunfire, the truck veered off the road.
Two men in the truck were shot and wounded, while the third person was not hurt. The shooter drove off after opening fire.
It's unclear if the people in the two cars got into some kind of dispute before the shooting.
Investigators are asking anyone with information on the shooter or the getaway car to put in a call to the Hayward Area CHP office.
