Nearly 2,000 pets were adopted over the weekend at the annual Pet Food Express Pet Fair at the Alameda County Fairgrounds.

More than 70 shelters participated in the fair, including one from Lake County, which was trying to find homes for pets following the recent Mendocino Complex Fire.

Organizers say this year they set a record number for adoptions.
