NORTH BAY (KTVU) - Canine Excellence shared a photo with KTVU showing 25 dogs all sitting politely in a row.
Owner Aly Baughman tells KTVU she started her business in 2011 and it covers Petaluma to Corte Madera.
Baughman works alongside three pack leaders - two of them also work as dog trainers.
She says they generally walk 10-13 dogs at a time. The maximum is 38 dogs with three handlers.
"Dogs being naturally pack animals, this process of walking a large pack is beneficial to the dogs mentally and physically to learn structure, leadership and respect to their leader/handlers. We have a process to introducing new dogs to our pack, we are selective and dogs must pass a series of behavioral tests while on a small pack walk with one of our handlers to determine if they are comfortable and a good fit for our active pack," said Baughman.
She says packs are not for any dog and they specialize in large hyperactive breeds.
On each walk Baughman, along with other pack leaders, pose the pack in a line as an opportunity to train them. "Mentally testing their patience and basic cue training while also testing their respect and focus on us and our command over the distractions of other people, dogs, squirrels etc. We are balanced trainers and speak dog for a living. Dogs are our life," says Baughman.
Baughman tells KTVU she hopes to break the record of the most dogs walked simultaneously by an individual, which is currently 35.
