4-month-old taken at gunpoint on Christmas Eve still missing
DETROIT (FOX 2) - The Detroit Police Department is providing few updates in the abduction of a 4-month-old who was taken by her father at gunpoint on Christmas Eve.
A'miyah Jones was taken by her father around 2 p.m. Monday. According to police, the girl was with her mother visiting a relative in the 900 block of Webb when the infant's father, 22-year-old JaQuan Jones, forced his way inside and took the girl.
Once inside, Jones showed a weapon then took the baby from her mother at gunpoint and left in an unknown direction.
Police are still looking for the baby and suspect. They believe the suspect is driving a blue Chrysler 200.
An AMBER Alert was not issued for baby A'miyah, despite Michigan State Police policy that states alerts are issued in the case of child abductions.
Michigan State Police said Wednesday that an AMBER Alert was not requested. MSP also said it would not have meet criteria for an AMBER Alert or endangered missing advisory to be issued.
