Ambulance transporting injured bicyclist involved in collision

Three individuals were hospitalized after a collision between a private vehicle and a Marin County Fire Department ambulance Saturday morning in San Rafael, officials said. 

The ambulance responded to a bicycle versus vehicle accident on Sir Francis Drake Blvd on Whites hill in Fairfax. MCFD paramedics were transporting the injured bicyclist when the second collision occurred at 9:47 a.m -- 25 minutes after the first collision – also on Sir Francis Drake Blvd, but at Broadmoor Avenue. 

A total of three new ambulances were dispatched. One for the injured cyclist, one for the driver of the private vehicle and one for the MCFD paramedic. 

The bicyclist had serious injuries and both the driver of the private vehicle and paramedic had minor injuries. The paramedic has since been released from medical care.

No further information was available.The cause of the Sir Francis Drake Blvd crash is being led by Central Marin Police Authority.
