Berkeley shelter-in-place lifted, police activity concludes

Police activity in a Berkeley neighborhood this evening has concluded and a shelter-in-place advisory for the area has been lifted, according to police.

At about 4:45 p.m., police had asked residents in the 2200 block of McKinley Street, the 1800 block of Allston Way, the 1800 block of Bancroft Way and the 2200 block of Grant Street to stay indoors or avoid the area
altogether.

The area has since been secured, police said just before 7 p.m.

Police had said that officers may be checking behind buildings and homes.

Police have not responded to calls for comment.
