Bomb-sniffing dog gets retirement party after long career
CHICAGO - Lacy, a 9-year-old black lab, is having a retirement party.
Lacy is a bomb-sniffing dog who worked at Chicago’s O’Hare and Midway airports after graduating from a canine-training program at Auburn University in 2011--the first dog to graduate from her program. Now, after eight years in the service, it’s time for Lacy to give up sniffing and enjoy a well-earned retirement.
Lacy’s duties mostly included sniffing passengers in the security queue for traces of explosives. Over the course of her entire career, she sniffed more than one million passengers.
Now, Lacy is calling it a career to spend more time with her toys and her handler. Any sniffing she does will be for her own enjoyment.
