Bus driver saves toddler from busy street

(FOX NEWS) -- A Wisconsin bus driver said he was in the right place at the right time when he rescued a toddler from a busy road.

Metro Transit bus driver Tim Homann was driving in Madison on Thursday morning when he spotted a 1 ½-year-old girl standing in the street.

Video shows the moment that Homann stopped the bus and approached the little girl.

“I knelt down, and I put my arms out, and she put her arms up and said, 'Momma,’” Homann recalled.

The little girl’s dad arrived moments later and explained that he had fallen asleep.

WISC-TV reported:

After delivering the child to her father, Homann got back to his bus to continue his route. But before he did he made an announcement to the passengers on the bus.

"I apologized for the wait," Homann said, laughing. "I don’t know why, but I did.”

For a guy who lives by a bus schedule, Homann gives new meaning to an old saying: "I was in the right place at the right time."
