Cal State East Bay professor flips vandalism into art, a movement

A professor at Cal State East Bay is turning an act of vandalism into a movement to empower.

Someone crossed out two signs of Dr. G. T. Reyes’ door -- a "Black Lives Matter" sign and another  one welcoming "all students.”

The professor responded with what he's calling the "Cross Out Quilt." He posted a paper patchwork of positive words on his door -- such as love, justice and community – and added discriminatory words like sexism, and racism. The discriminatory words were crossed out.

The colorful “Cross Out Quilt” is not only posted on his door outside of his office, but on other doors that line the halls.
