CHP officer suffers major injuries in crash on Hwy 4 in Concord

A California Highway Patrol officer was injured in a collision on eastbound Highway 4 just east of Port Chicago Highway in Concord on Monday evening.

According to CHP Contra Costa Public Information Officer Brandon Corriea, the motorcycle officer was pulled over to the side of the highway investigating an accident when he was struck. The officer was not on his bike when he was hit.

The officer suffered major injuries and was transported to a local hospital. He is expected to survive.

The crash happened at around 6:15 p.m. Two lanes were closed for investigators but all lanes had re-opened by about 8:20 p.m.
