Community rallies behind 4-year-old Walnut Creek boy with rare brain tumor
WALNUT CREEK, Cali. (KTVU) - A 4-year-old boy is fighting for his life, but he’s not alone.
A Walnut Creek gym is stepping up to help little Deakyn, during his treatment of a rare brain tumor.
He’s already gone through two major surgeries to remove the tumor and now doctors are waiting to see if he needs a third.
His mom, CJ Lewis, is a coach the Omni Fight Club. The gym held a fundraiser Saturday to help the family with medical classes. There was a $10 minimum donation for classes through 11 a.m. All new memberships on Saturday go to the family.
Deakyn’s grandparents stopped by Saturday morning and they were overwhelmed with all the support.
Gerry Lewis said the community coming out for his grandson feels like getting a “huge hug.”
The fundraising resumes on May 16 at Scotts Seafood Restaurant in Walnut Creek.
