Crash on eastbound Hwy 24 near 680 snarls traffic

Emergency crews have just cleared scene of a crash on eastbound Highway 24 near the 680 split that has snarled traffic Friday evening.

The crash between a motorcycle and a car shut down three eastbound lanes of Highway 24. Authorities told KTVU the motorcyclist was alert and conscious when crews arrived on scene.

The lanes were reopened at about 5:19 p.m. after CHP and paramedics cleared the accident scene, but traffic on 24 was already backed up to Oakland.

Authorities are telling drivers to expect delays through the rest of the Friday evening commute in the eastbound direction.
