Fairfield police investigate food court shooting

Police are investigating an alleged shooting incident in which a person wearing a mask allegedly fired shots a group of people at a Fairfield shopping center Saturday evening.

At 7:48 p.m., officers received a report of a masked-man carrying a gun at the Solano Town Center Mall, located at 1350 Travis Blvd., according to police.

Officers learned the suspect may have fired shots at a group of people inside the food court area, police said.

When officers arrived, they couldn't immediately locate the suspect.

However while officers searched the area, three individuals fled from officers on foot, according to police.

Officers were able to detain the trio and transported them to the police department's Major Crimes Unit for questioning to determine if they were involved in the alleged shooting, police said.

Officers also detained a fourth person and later booked them into the Solano County Jail in connection with an unrelated incident.

Officers believe the alleged shooting was not a random act, but instead the result of some sort of altercation between two groups of people.

No injuries were reported, according to police.
