Fire weather warning expanded in So Cal

Windy conditions that pose an elevated risk of wildfires are forecast for mountainous areas around Los Angeles.

The Los Angeles Daily News reports Saturday that the National Weather Service has expanded a red flag warning to include parts of Los Angeles and Ventura counties.

The warning is in effect from 6 p.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday. It was added because conditions are drier than expected in Los Angeles County.

The warning comes a little more than a week after a destructive fire broke out on the edge of Los Angeles, destroying at least 17 structures and damaging dozens more.

Southern California Edison says it is monitoring conditions to determine whether power shut-offs will be needed.
