Half Moon Bay man arrested after allegedly exchanging over 500 inappropriate texts with minor

A 51-year-old Half Moon Bay man was arrested Wednesday for allegedly attempting to engage in lewd and lascivious acts with a minor, according to police.

San Mateo County Sheriff’s Detectives say Patrick Joseph Andorfer sent inappropriate Facebook messages and over 500 text messages to a 15-year-old girl after police received a tip from the girl's father.

Detectives took Andorfer into custody around 7 p.m. on the 600 block of Correas St. in Half Moon Bay after a four-month investigation concluded the messages became increasingly sexually explicit and that Andorfer was actively trying to meet and establish a sexual relationship with the girl.

Police arranged a meeting with Andorfer where they posed as the teen.

Andorfer was booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility with his bail set at $50,000.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the teen and Androfer didn’t have contact as soon as their investigation began.
