A viewer video shows the moment a car veers off the street onto the sidewalk, plowing into several trees and injuring a pedestrian in the process. It happened Monday morning in Hayward. Police say the driver and the pedestrian are injured but did not have specifics on their conditions. This is not being investigated as a hit-and-run.

HAWYARD, Calif. - Hayward officials say a pedestrian is being treated for her injuries after the driver of an SUV struck her Monday morning.

The collision happened at around 7:35 a.m. at Tennyson Road and Calaroga Avenue.

Police said the crash is under investigation and that the driver of the vehicle is also being treated for their injuries. Late in the evening, there was no update on the extent of either person's condition.

Hayward P.D. said this crash is not being investigated as a hit-and-run.

A viewer sent in remarkable dashcam footage of the driver seemingly losing control of their vehicle as they veer off from the left-hand lane, plowing into trees along the sidewalk in a high-speed sideswipe.

The SUV comes to rest as the dust from the crash settles. The video shows the immediate aftermath as traffic begins to move again.

Hayward P.D. said they would offer more details when they become available.
