Hunger strike leads to confrontation at SF City Hall
SAN FRANCISCO (KTVU) - San Francisco Police report that officers made some two dozen arrests, after clashing with demonstrators at City Hall Friday night.
The protesters were upset about controversial police shootings in San Francisco.
They are demanding that Mayor Ed Lee fire Police Chief Greg Suhr.
Earlier in the evening, the protesters chanted outside the Mayor's Office, but were prevented from going inside.
Hours later, San Francisco Sheriff's Deputies began arresting protesters, when they refused to leave City Hall.
The confrontation created a chaotic scene.
The demonstrators are in solidarity with five hunger strikers, who were taken to UCSF Medical Center, after refusing to eat for more than two weeks.
The so-called "Frisco Five" are now continuing their hunger strike from their hospital beds.
