OAKLAND, Calif. - Hyatt will cease managing the Waterfront Hotel in Oakland, putting the future of the Jack London Square lodge in jeopardy.
In a Jan. 17 letter to staff that was shared with KTVU, Waterfront Hotel General Manager James Dinnall wrote that Hyatt made the decision due to "financial issues with the current owner."
The letter detailed that Hyatt will continue managing the hotel – located at 10 Washington St. – until March 18.
"Hyatt will cease acting as the management company for the hotel and will permanently separate its employment relationship with all Hotel employees… effective on a date between March 18, 2025 and April 1, 2025," Dinnall said in the letter.
Dinnall's letter also said that it is not currently known whether the current owner of the Waterfront Hotel will decide to work with a new company to manage the property.
"It is possible that the hotel will cease operations completely," Dinnall said.
