Local teen band raises money for Clayton Fire victims
PACIFICA, Calif. (KTVU) - A local teen band played a benefit concert to help raise money for victims of the recent Clayton Fire.
The Lucky Boys is made up of three 14-year-olds: Matt Stenson on guitar, Anthony Denny on bass, and Justice James on drums and lead vocals. They are all freshmen at Capuchino High School in San Bruno.
The event, which took place at Winters Tavern in Pacifica, benefited Tom and Lisa Wilsey, a family who lost their home in the Clayton Fire. The event raised an estimated $1,200, in addition to a GoFundMe that has raised over $5,000.
James says, "I think about how I get to sleep in a nice warm bed, play my drums, go to school... and there are families that only have the clothes on their backs. They have to rebuild their lives and be strong for their kids. It just makes me really sad."
One of the family members said that the kindness of the Lucky Boys put a much needed smile on his face.
James' father, Bob, says the Lucky Boys want to encourage people to be more helpful and less hateful.
The Lucky Boys are also raising money with this GoFundMe for their album.
