Man drowns in Guadalupe River in San Jose

A man drowned in a creek in south San Jose early Thursday morning, according to police.

The drowning was reported at 1:50 a.m. in the creek near Old Almaden Road and Almaden Expressway, police said.

San Jose Fire Department crews were able to pull the man from the water and transported him to a hospital, where he died.

The man's name hasn't been released, pending the notification of the next of kin.

The Santa Clara County medical examiner's office will perform an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
