Man rescues weeks old kitten glued down on busy road
SILVERTON, Ore. (KTVU) - A five week old kitten that was found glued to the road has a new home and a new beginning, thanks to a motorist who spotted the animal and came to her rescue.
The sun was barely up when Chuck Hawley of Silverton, Oregon was on his way to work and noticed something unusual on the busy roadway, according to KPTV-FOX 12 Oregon, which first reported the story.
As he got closer, he saw a small kitten, standing up on all four paws in the middle of the street.
Hawley pulled over, got out of his car, and tried to pick up the small animal, but he soon realized that her paws had been glued to the road.
He managed to carefully detach the kitten from the road and brought her to an animal clinic, where veterinarians said the cat's paws had been soaked in glue.
Hawley said it appeared someone intentionally glued the little animal down where she could have been killed.
And now the Good Samaritan who came to the rescue of the helpless kitten is also her owner.
After surviving her ordeal, the young kitten went home with Hawley and his family.
They decided to give her a name that would stick. They're calling their new cat "Sticky."
"The funny thing is we were just talking about getting a cat a couple of nights ago," Hawley said. "Seems like there's easier ways for the cat to find us, but if that's how we're doing it, okay, I guess that's how we'll do it!"
