Marin Co. coroner confirms body found at Rodeo Beach is that of missing surfer

The Marin County Coroner's office has confirmed the body found at Rodeo Beach on Friday morning was that of missing 40-year-old surfer Daniel Lon Dafoe, who was swept into the ocean earlier this week. 

Investigators took custody of the remains and have confirmed the identification of the San Rafael resident.

According to authorities a teacher found the body on the beach. 

The initial search for Dafoe of San Rafael was called off Thursday night due to dangerous conditions.

The cause and manner of death are still under investigation. An autopsy will be performed early next week.
