Mark Ibanez blogs about embarrassing moment on live TV

Last Sunday Steve Harvey had an embarrassing moment on live TV.
Harvey took the blame for announcing that Miss Colombia won the crown instead of Miss Philippines. Harvey immediately apologized for the mistake calling it a “human error,” and apologized on Twitter.
Mark Ibanez posted about the incident - remembering one of his on air gaffes.

"CAN I EVER RELATE!!
I usually don't read too much social media stuff, but I understand that comedian/game show host/writer and all around talented guy, Steve Harvey is taking quite a beating today for basically reading the wrong winner at last night's Miss Universe contest.
On live television anything can happen and he simply made a mistake.
And by the way, I believe he responded perfectly by admitting he goofed right away... and let's all move on.
I am on live television five nights a week and I have made so many mistakes over the years, mispronouncing words, accidently reading the wrong score and basically just screwing up.
I would like to share with you what I consider to be my ALL TIMER!
It was many years ago and the Warriors had a very scrappy team, they weren't great but playoff worthy and they pretty much had to fight it out for everything they got.
You may remember those teams with Chris Mullin, Tim Hardaway and Mitch Richmond - nicknamed 'Run TMC.'
Anyway, they were in the playoffs one year and they were playing the Phoenix Suns.
Channel Two sent me to Phoenix to cover all the excitement.
The game went into overtime and it was thrilling and hotly contested but the Warriors lost.
Because the game ran so long I had to go running out to the parking lot to do my live broadcast without time
to collect my thoughts.
The first words out of my mouth were, "a GUTLESS effort by the Warriors tonight against the Suns".
I was trying to say it was a GUTSY effort by the Warriors but the word would not come to me!
I wound up getting all flustered and stuttered and stammered and finished by saying something lame like "they played with guts" But it was too late.
You know how passionate Warriors fans are, even back then. When I called Channel Two to ask if it looked
that bad...the guy who answered the phone said "listen to this!"
All you could hear was all our phones ringing, with viewers complaining about me!
I am very thankful there was no YouTube, or other social media... I might not be writing this right now.
Steve Harvey, keep on keep'in on.
I feel for you. Live television is very unforgiving.
Especially nowadays."
