New toll lanes on I-580 in Livermore Valley are fully open

LIVERMORE VALLEY (KTVU) – New westbound express lanes on Interstate 580 in the Livermore Valley are open for commuters.

On Friday, the eastbound express lanes opened to traffic.

The 14-mile stretch of toll lanes runs from Dublin to Livermore. It is expected to provide relief for commuters with a total of three new lanes. They are supposed to ease congestion for all drivers who commute from the Stockton and Tracy areas, as well as for people who live and work in the Tri-Valley.

The lanes are free for carpoolers, buses, motorcycles and those with clean air vehicles. However, a new, adjustable Fastrak Flex tag is required so you won’t get charged.

Solo drivers using the new toll lanes will be charged based on traffic flow and the time of day.
