Oakland double homicide investigation underway

OAKLAND, Calif. (KTVU) - A double homicide investigation is underway in Oakland this morning after a fiery crash and possible shooting in a neighborhood near 98th Avenue and Interstate 880.

Details are still emerging but Oakland Police confirmed two people were killed near the intersection of Empire Road & Gibraltar road.

One other was injured in the incident and taken to a local hospital.

Initial calls for the incident came in just before 2:00a.m.  

Video from the scene shows a vehicle fully engulfed in flames and police actively searching the area.

There were reports of a shooting connected to this incident but police have not confirmed that with KTVU.

The entire neighborhood around this scene is blocked off, but traffic outside the area is not largely impacted.

No information on the victim of the suspect has been released.
