Oakland police patrol car bursts into flames
OAKLAND, Calif. (KTVU) - An Oakland police officer escaped injury after his patrol car burst into flames during a pursuit of a carjacking suspect.
It happened at 10:30 a.m. Saturday on I-580, near the High Street exit.
The officer swerved to avoid another car during the pursuit when his patrol car smashed into a light pole, according to Oakland police.
The police officer managed to safely get out of the burning patrol car, police said.
Police arrested the carjacking suspect a short time later.
