Oakland's pink stucco Mexicali Rose restaurant closing after 91 years
OAKLAND, Calif. - One of the Bay Area’s oldest restaurants will serve its last plate of piping hot enchiladas this Friday.
Mexicali Rose, the old Oakland restaurant at 701 Clay Street with the pink stucco exterior is closing after 91 years.
The owners say they are retiring after serving four generations of loyal customers.
The closing comes just three years after La Borinquena Mexicatessen in old Oakland closed after 71 years.
No word on the future of the Mexicali rose building.
