One dead, one injured in separate East Bay shootings
OAKLAND, Calif. (KTVU and wires) - Police in the East Bay were investigating two separate shootings that left one person dead near Lake Merritt and hospitalized another man in Berkeley.
Dispatchers received a report of shots fired in Oakland on the 1900 block of Fifth Avenue at 7:32 p.m.
A man was found on scene but he was pronounced deceased at 7:51 p.m., according to police.
Meanwhile, a man was taken to the hospital after being shot in Berkeley Tuesday night, according to police.
Dispatchers received multiple 911 calls reporting gunshots in the vicinity of California and Russell streets at 8:32 p.m.
Responding officers found a man suffering from gunshot wounds in the 1600 block of Russell Street, near California.
He was transported to a hospital, according to Officer Jennifer Coats, but further details about his condition were not immediately available.
Officers remain on the scene investigating the shooting, Coats said.
A description of the suspect or suspects was not immediately available for either shooting.
