All eastbound lanes of the 580 were closed Wednesday evening while authorities worked to upright a big rig tanker that overturned just east of the mid-span on the Richmond Bridge, authorities said.

The accident was reported at around 6:55 p.m. on Wednesday. The tanker is said to be empty.

The fast lane has been closing intermittently as crews work to clear the roadway, according to the CHP. As of 9:45 p.m. the slow lane was expected to remain closed for several hours.

It was not immediately clear if any injuries have been reported.

Drivers are advised to take Highway 37.
